Overview

The Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health at MAHSA University is a three-year program designed to prepare students for careers in the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) field. This program has been developed to address the increasing demand for safety and health practitioners as the government aims to reduce and prevent industrial accidents and occupational diseases. OSH professionals play a crucial role in managing and enhancing employee health and wellness across various workplaces and industries, which is vital for improving legislative compliance, productivity, efficiency, and morale within organizations.

Occupational Safety and Health is a branch of public health that examines trends in illnesses and injuries among workers and develops strategies and regulations to prevent them. The field is broad, encompassing various disciplines, including industrial hygiene, engineering, toxicology, epidemiology, ergonomics, and violence prevention. The issues addressed by OSH practitioners can vary widely by sector; for instance, construction workers may face greater risks from falls or heavy machinery, while office environments may focus on mental health and repetitive stress injuries.

Entry Requirements  

SPM or equivalent with PASS in Bahasa Malaysia and English and 3 credits in the following subjects:

• Mathematics or ONE science subject (Biology/Physics/Chemistry/General Science); and
• Any other TWO subjects (including Bahasa Malaysia and/or English if credits)
