Overview

The IMU Pharmaceutical Chemistry degree program combines pharmaceutical sciences and applied chemistry, providing students with a comprehensive introduction to the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Graduates can pursue careers in various sectors, including pharmaceutical companies, where they may work in research and development, production, quality control, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and as product and technical specialists. Additionally, they can find opportunities in the cosmetics, toiletries, oleochemical, polymer, consumer products, food, and biotechnology industries, taking on roles in analytical research, quality control, health and safety, and more. Graduates can also work in government laboratories and agencies such as the Chemistry Department, the Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia, and the Malaysian Palm Oil Board, or serve as coordinators for clinical trial studies in multinational drug companies. The program employs a multi-faceted approach, guided by experienced faculty, and includes formal and informal learning, extensive laboratory training, problem-solving projects, small group activities, a final year research project, and a four-month industrial attachment. Students will also develop essential communication, presentation, entrepreneurial skills, and a foundation in basic engineering principles, preparing them for success in the workplace.
